My 9 yr old daughter and I went into a nearby public library last night and as we were checking out I looked over to where the computers were (in PLAIN SIGHT!) and saw a teenage boy looking at pornography!!!! I was SHOCKED! So, I was trying to tell the librarian, who was hard of hearing, that this boy was looking at trash on the computer without drawing attention to myself or alarming my daughter, this was not an easy task! Finally she heard me and took care of it, but wow!!! Are we not even safe to go to the public library?? Why don't they have net nanny on the computers??? I am so thankful that my daughter didn't glance over that way, wouldn't that have been so sad? She would have been corrupted and a little less innocent in that moment, all at the library! Sad times!

Is net nanny a free serive? They probably either don't have the money or just haven't made it a priority..now they should!! It IS sad...but how very lucky that God used YOU to see it and turn the boy in....others may have just walked right on by...but you stood and took action for what is right...the deep dark pit of pornography is such a terrible thing for young boys to get stuck in....getting caught at the library may be the first step towards healing and just the wake up call/help that he needs! I am VERY thankful that your daughter was spared from seeing! It is so very hard in this day to keep littles eye's and hearts pure.....it is EVERYWHERE!! We Mom's have to keep our guards up and lean very deep into our Lord! I frequent my public library all the time...I have never stopped to ask about their computer policies....but I will make a point now, the next time I go in to have a full understanding of just what they do (if anything)to protect against pornography on their computers. I would much rather get less new books each year and make sure they have some protection if monies are a problem....I should make my voice be heard on the issue! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more! I think I am going to call the main branch of that library and see if they are going to do something about this, to me it is so sad...
